Updates on the Trial Make-Up, Femme Ento Measurements & Jhune Salud

It's been a while since the last entry, been busy juggling work, social life (what's left of it anyway) and trying to squeeze in wedding preparations whenever the spirit moves the Groom and also, whenever the Bride flies home from overseas.

First thing on our "to do list" was for The Bride to have a trial make-up with Ms Jeng Flores of Jeng and Carlan. A little back story on Ms Jeng, she originally said that she wouldn't be able to accommodate us on December 1 because she had an earlier engagement. This didn't sit well with the Bride, and as a Groom, it was on me to pull out all the stops.

Won't show you the 1st and 2nd looks,
this was taken after the trial :)
We're Thomasians. She's a Thomasian. Her hubby is also a Thomasian. Who else can you trust? :)

This Groom went begging, haggling, pleading like a dog on Twitter (because I was too cheap to send out lengthy SMSs). Don't read too much into that, we exchanged maybe three to four Tweets until Ms Jeng gave in and said she's up to it since her wedding's at 8 or 9 in the morning and ours is still at 6 in the evening.

Score one for the Groom. ;)

Martini's "faux, natural croissant bun"
Okay, we drove up to Marikina just a little after Santa Lucia East Grand Mall (first time ever on that road). They were housed alongside Ms Jeng's hubby's photo studio (Megapixel) and we were led to a separate room where Ms Jeng had this table filled with make-up stuff that I know nothing of. Her hair stylist, the fashionable, bloody red lipstick wearing Martini, helped out and did all the magic.

Me? I was sitting in a corner, bored as hell. Wanted to play with all the make-up because I was bored. But couldn't. Blah.

My Bride asked for Ms Jeng and Martini to make her look a little older, which is why the shades are darker. We later told Jhune about it, and he quickly quashed that notion and said that weddings are there to make the Bride look younger, fresher, whatever. I could care less really, can't really tell good make up from bad. Good is everyday make-up I guess. Bad would be something kabuki theater actors would wear.

Tito Boy, Gert, the Bride and Roch
Ok, next was another round with Boy Kastner Santos formerly of Sheaths Couture and now running his own show. You might have read or heard some rumors about him and his old business partner-- don't be scared. He's okay, he can and has delivered and has about nine or ten other brides on December 1st (we're one of them) so business is alive and kicking.

Since my Bride was in town for only a few days, we arranged for a Metro Manila meeting so he could also take the measurements of two of the female entourage. The rest are either in the province or overseas, so we'll have to work something out sooner rather than later.

Anyway, the Bride still hasn't shown me a copy of her gown's initial sketch. Her friends has, Tito Boy has, so I'll just let her surprise me on the wedding day. :)

And just because we have fallen in love with Tito Boy and his work, the Bride got him something for a little added inspiration.

Lastly, we've secured the services of Wedding Coordinator extraordinaire Jhune Salud-- a nice, friendly and quaint fellow who sets up shop at his place in Evangelista and sometimes at The Wedding Library at the SM Mall of Asia. While his rates were far from cheap, he came with solid recommendations among our peers and is also related to style icon Mama Rene Salud.

Groom and Bride with Jhune Salud
As a guy, I don't really do well with wedding preps so having him around is a blessing. He provided us with a module that pretty much opened our minds to what we're getting ourselves into and is always checking up on us (or myself) re: the requirements and how the Bride and I are doing.

So far, the Bride's done with her Birth Certificate, Confirmation, Baptismal and Cenomar. Thanks to e-census.com.ph, I was able to secure my BC and Cenomar stress-free for a little over Php 1,000 (they even deliver via courier so that was awesome). I'll have to drop by Pinaglabanan Church at San Juan and my Alma Mater, La Salle Greenhills for the other two soon. I'm not sure if I could get someone to just have those things processed for me. Would be really great though.

My Bride will kill me for saying that. She wasn't a fan of my "cheating" via the online thing. Lol.

Only a few months left! Wish us luck! :)

PS:

I've decided to ditch the Dwyane Wade inspired suit and work a light grey tuxedo with a bright bow-tie. The Bride approves so yey.
