Couturier: Boy Kastner Santos

The Groom and the Couturier
After weeks of searching, we finally have a winner for Winy's bridal gown and entourage couturier: "Tito Boy" Kastner Santos of Sheaths Couture.

Since we're working on a fixed budget, Winy made it a point to look for the best couture in the Metropolitan Manila area (okay, not really, since Tito Boy is based in Bacoor, Cavite) that our money could afford. True enough, we "discovered" Tito Boy in a bunch of forums, Facebook posts, Multiply entries and Blogspot wedding diaries.

Most of their conversations/ dealings were done online since Winy's based abroad. Finally, once the fiancee gave me the go signal, I decided to drop by the Weddings @ Work bridal fair at SM Megamall last Friday, February 17.

Tito Boy didn't have a booth to speak of, which was quite alarming at first, but based on the number of testimonials from happy brides I decided not to make a big deal out of it. He was such a joy to talk to and I found his trademark Fedora quite fashionable. Yes, Tito Boy is very much like Tito Boy Abunda the TV host. They look a like, are fabulously gay and have big tummies (ha!). I even made sure to take a picture of the moment 1) for the fiancee to believe that I really met with her chosen supplier and 2) for the benefit of those who would be reading this blog while searching for suppliers.

I forgot most of the conversation, but when I said that I was thinking of wearing a cream and pink themed suit, he suggested a darker shade to which I replied "baka mag mukha akong lupa nyan."

He trumped my half-meant joke with "kung ganyan ang lupa matagal na ako nagpalibing!"

O ha! Havey!

Ooops. Nakakahawa talaga. ;)

Seriously though, his gowns start at Php 30k and Winy got the 40k one. Then there's his computation for the entourage which you can haggle him with and finally, my suit. I told him that I didn't want to go over the Php 90k mark, and we ended up with a total of Php 86k.

Fast forward to this morning then.

I woke up early and left the house at around 10 a.m. Taking the Skyway Alabang-Zapote exit to Daang Hari road, I found myself at Southville 1 a little around 11 a.m. and at Tito Boy's shop watching him take measurements of some old looking, pimple marred groom (sorry, but being a guy who draws people as a hobby, I take note of the things that best identify them. Me? I'm a tall, big nosed, crooked Bugs Bunny teeth and rash filled cheeks dork) and the rest of his entourage.

Once Tito Boy was done, he immediately turned his attention to me and my Mac. I showed him some pegs, which I will post here for everyone to see. More or less, these are the looks that we want. But the final product might not end up being the same. The bridal gown will probably look nothing like this, depends on what Tito Boy and Winy agrees on when she comes home this May. As for my suit, well, I just want to look sexy.

Option 3

Winy's measurement and fitting is scheduled for May, mine's done since Tito Boy took my measurements-- though I told him that I've been hitting the gym lately in hopes of looking Marc Nelson-ish for the big day. Joke. Not. Joke. Not. :)

Oh, and another funny moment with Tito Boy during the measurement taking.

The scene: I was standing in front of his table, he stood up with his measuring tape and went behind me. I've seen my fair share of prison movies. So yeah, I was acting stupid. He slapped me in the ass- left cheek, and...

Tito Boy: Tanggalin mo na
Ainj: Ha? (Frozen. Brought back childhood memories haha)
Tito Boy: Ung wallet mo! Hindi ung pantalon!
Ainj: Ah. Ha. Ha.
Tito Boy and his assistant: Hahahahahahaha
Ainj: Ha. Ha.

Aliw. :)
